Local Public Relations Agency Acquires New Leadership
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (November 3, 2016) – After almost fifteen years of successful public relations practice in the Coastal Bend region, Texas, nationally and internationally, Carol A. Scott and Kailo Communications Studio (KCS) is proud to announce a transition of ownership to Doreen M. Harrell, APR. Harrell is a native of Corpus Christi, and has provided services to clients for more than nine years, as well as serving as the firm’s business manager since 2010.
One of only two accredited public relations professionals in the city, Harrell is excited about the opportunity to become an entrepreneur and sole owner of KCS. “I am passionate about my career, the service I provide to clients, the community and this company. Leading KCS into its next phase of growth is both a challenge and an opportunity I am ready to take on,” stated Harrell.
During Scott’s tenure at KCS, the company was engaged by clients in government, finance, education, petrochemical, infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, energy, retail and nonprofit sectors. Scott successfully launched KCS in 2002 with long-time business partner, Debbie Wingfield Dunham, who retired from the organization in 2014. Scott plans on pursuing consulting opportunities outside the area and continuing her active participation as a community leader, most notably, as a Regent for Del Mar College.
“Doreen has been a significant part of our growth over the past few years, bringing in business opportunities in public participation for several local projects. She has served as my right-hand and kept the business successfully operating for close to ten years. Doreen has extensive experience in the practice of public relations and I am confident she will continue our work by serving existing clients and creating new business opportunities,” said Scott.
Harrell is a home-grown professional and community advocate. A graduate of Carroll High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and began her career at Grande Communications as the community relations manager. She transitioned to KCS in 2007 serving as senior public relations manager and practice manager. Harrell also serves the community as a board member for the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Alumni Association and the Leadership Corpus Christi Alumni Association (graduate of LCC Class XLIV). She is married to husband, Chris, and mother to 16-year-old daughter, Mckenzie.
“Balancing my professional and personal life has been the primary goal throughout my career. I am thankful for the experience, growth and success I’ve experienced so far and this opportunity is one more blessing I am extremely grateful for,” said Harrell.
Scott will assist with client and business transition over the next 90 days. “Nothing will change as far as our current clients are concerned; they will receive the same level of service they’ve experienced under my leadership. Doreen and I will work together to ensure a seamless transition that will not disrupt or delay service to our clients,” stated Scott.
